CUSTECH Inaugurates First Alumni Association, Sets Up Interim Executive

The Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, has officially inaugurated its maiden Alumni Association and constituted an Interim Executive Committee to coordinate the affairs of the association, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s history.
The inauguration ceremony, held at the University’s Auditorium on Friday, July 24, 2026, brought together graduates from the pioneer, second and third sets of the institution, symbolizing the beginning of a lasting partnership between the University and its alumni.

Speaking during the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, FNSE, congratulated the graduates on the successful establishment of the association and urged them to remain committed to the growth and development of their alma mater.
He described the alumni as the future of the University, emphasizing that the inauguration represented the beginning of a lifelong relationship between CUSTECH and its graduates.
“This is the beginning of a lifelong relationship with the University. You should know that you are the future of CUSTECH,” the Vice-Chancellor said.
Prof. Salawu expressed delight that the University’s first Alumni Association was inaugurated during his tenure. He also commended the vision of the founder of the institution and former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, whose initiative led to the establishment of CUSTECH and the production of its first alumni.
The Vice-Chancellor further appreciated the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his sustained support towards the expansion and development of the University, which has now graduated three sets of students.
In her keynote address, the University Registrar, Mrs. Glory Ojochogu Yakubu, highlighted the strategic role alumni associations play in strengthening universities through networking, mentorship, institutional support and development initiatives.
She reminded the graduates that they remain ambassadors of CUSTECH wherever they find themselves and encouraged them to uphold the institution’s values while contributing to its continuous advancement.
Earlier, the Dean of Student Affairs, Associate Professor Shehu A. Shaib, welcomed the graduates and appreciated them for honouring the University’s invitation despite the short notice.
Following his remarks, the University Management invited the graduates to nominate an Interim Executive Committee that would oversee the establishment and formal registration of the Alumni Association.
After an open and transparent nomination process, the alumni unanimously elected the following Interim Executive members:

In his acceptance speech, the Interim President, Comrade Musa Faruk Amoto, popularly known as Futti, thanked the University Management and fellow graduates for the confidence reposed in him.
He pledged that the interim leadership would work closely with the University authorities and members of the association to build a vibrant alumni body capable of supporting CUSTECH’s academic excellence, infrastructure development and global reputation.
The ceremony was attended by members of the University Management, including the University Librarian, Mrs. Helen Osebequen Chris-Israel; Director of Academic Planning, Pharm. Muhammed Asuku Audu; Director of Advance and Development Office and External Collaboration Linkages, Alhaji Usman Obansa; Director of Works and Maintenance, Engr. Rufai Sadiq; Director of Procurement, Alhaji Sadiq Buhari Ozomata; and Deputy Registrar (Academic), Mr. Eli Usman Gbadafu.
The inauguration follows CUSTECH’s maiden combined Convocation Ceremony for its first and second sets of graduates in 2025, an event that laid the foundation for establishing the University’s first Alumni Association.
