The All Progressives Congress (APC), Delta State chapter, has rejected allegations by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege linking members of the party and officials loyal to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to an alleged attack on him and members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) at Usiefrun in Ughelli South Local Government Area.
The party described the allegation as “reckless, baseless and politically motivated,” saying it was an attempt to portray the state as engulfed in political violence without credible evidence.

In a statement issued on Thursday, August 14, 2026, the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Valentine Onojeghuo, Esq., said Governor Oborevwori, as the Chief Security Officer of the state, remained committed to peace, security and the rule of law.
The party maintained that the governor had no interest in promoting political violence or thuggery and urged political actors to avoid statements capable of escalating tensions.
The APC also dismissed the allegation that the governor’s Protocol Officer, Hon. Simon Mudi, popularly known as “Temple,” was involved in the alleged incident.
According to the party, it was difficult to reconcile the allegation with Mudi’s official responsibilities at Government House, Asaba.
“It is difficult to comprehend the claim that he would abandon his official responsibilities at Government House, Asaba, to travel to Usiefrun and participate in an attack,” the statement said.
The party further questioned the basis for linking Mudi to the incident, noting that he is from Ekakpamre and not Usiefrun, where the alleged confrontation reportedly occurred.
The APC said Omo-Agege had reportedly conducted campaign activities in Ekakpamre without incident, and questioned why he was now attempting to associate the APC and Mudi with an alleged incident in Usiefrun.
APC Challenges Omo-Agege to Produce Evidence
The Delta APC challenged Omo-Agege to submit any evidence linking its members to the alleged attack to the Nigeria Police Force for investigation.
The party said it had “no knowledge of, and no member of the Party was involved in,” the alleged attack.
It accused the former senator of attempting to use allegations of political violence as a campaign strategy and urged him to focus on issues, policies and the welfare of the people.in
The party also referred to an earlier allegation concerning alleged political violence in Aghalokpe, saying similar claims had been made without credible and verifiable evidence
“Repeatedly raising alarm over alleged violence without producing verifiable evidence cannot become a campaign strategy,” the APC said.
Party Backs Police Investigation
The APC said it welcomed a thorough, impartial and transparent investigation into the Usiefrun incident.
It maintained that anyone found culpable should face the full weight of the law, regardless of political affiliation or status.
The party urged politicians and their supporters to refreshing from making allegations capable of inflaming passions and threatening peace in Delta State.
