The Ahmed Aliyu Wadada Project Campaign Council has appointed media professional Yahaya Idris Toto as Head of Media and Publicity for Toto Local Government Area ahead of the 2027 Nasarawa State governorship election.
The development signals the campaign council’s move to strengthen its communication machinery and deepen grassroots engagement as political activities intensify ahead of the election.
The appointment was announced by the Toto LG Coordinator of the Wadada Project Campaign Council, Hon. (Alhaji) Muhammad Usman Shege, in a statement dated August 21, 2026.
Yahaya Idris to Coordinate Campaign Publicity
As Head of Media and Publicity, Yahaya Idris Toto is expected to coordinate media operations, publicity and strategic communication for the campaign council across Toto LG.
He is also expected to help communicate the campaign’s programmes, activities and political messages to voters and other stakeholders.
Shege said the appointment was based on merit and Yahaya Idris Toto’s professional experience and expertise.
He particularly cited the media professional’s understanding of the “attention economy” as one of the factors behind the decision
“The choice of Yahaya Idris Toto as Head of Media for Toto LG was based on merit, commitment, expertise and his ability to bring his wealth of experience in the attention economy to bear,” Shege said.
Council Targets Political Stakeholders
The campaign council coordinator said preparations were already underway for the commencement of extensive electioneering activities across Toto Local Government.
According to him, the council plans to engage political stakeholders, community leaders, youths and other important groups as part of its grassroots mobilisation strategy.
Shege said the APC was determined to secure victory in Toto LG in the 2027 elections.
He further called on eligible Nigerians who are 18 years and above to participate actively in the electoral process, noting that citizens have an important role to play in democratic governance.
The coordinator described Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada as the best governorship candidate for Nasarawa State and maintained that his candidacy was “sellable” to the electorate.
Appointment to Boost Grassroots Communication
Shege, who is also a grassroots mobiliser and former Special Adviser to the Nasarawa State Governor, expressed confidence that Yahaya Idris Toto’s appointment would strengthen the council’s publicity machinery.
He said the new media structure would enhance the campaign’s visibility and improve communication with voters and stakeholders across Toto Local Government.
