Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, has said Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration will remain focused on governance despite political attacks and realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
Aniagwu made the statement while featuring on Arise News’ The Morning Show on Sunday.
The commissioner said the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, economic management and grassroots development were visible across Delta State.

He also responded to criticisms from former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, particularly concerning the state’s financial position.
Aniagwu argued that comments about Delta’s savings with the Central Bank of Nigeria amounted to recognition of the government’s prudent management of public funds.
He said the state had sufficient financial strength to save while simultaneously funding development projects.
“We are not only solvent, we are also very liquid,” he said.
The commissioner further pointed to the $100 million de-risking fund announced by Governor Oborevwori at the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit as part of the administration’s strategy to attract investors.
Aniagwu said the initiative would help create a more attractive environment for private-sector investment in the state.
On infrastructure, he said the administration’s decision to provide up to 40 per cent mobilisation for awarded projects had accelerated construction work.
According to him, some projects had been completed within schedule, while others were delivered ahead of their completion dates.
He said the impact of the MORE Agenda could be seen beyond road construction, with improved connectivity making movement across Delta easier.
Aniagwu maintained that the governor’s performance had made political attacks less effective.
“He knows that he cannot accuse Oborevwori of not performing. He knows that Oborevwori has performed beyond the expectations of many,” he said.
The commissioner also dismissed suggestions that political developments in Delta had significantly weakened the governor’s support.
He said the administration’s grassroots engagements had continued to generate positive responses from residents.
Aniagwu further maintained that political contests would ultimately be determined by preparation, records and grassroots support.

He said the administration would therefore continue working for the people instead of engaging in political mudslinging.
“Our route is to continue to stay on the path of governance,” he said.
He assured that the government would remain committed to infrastructure, economic development and creating opportunities for the people of Delta State.
