Award recognises medical consultant’s contributions to healthcare, public service, community development and student empowerment

The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has honoured Dr. Joseph Simon Adagadzu, an Anaesthesia Consultant, with an Award of Credence as an Icon of Medical Excellence, Political Leadership and Students Development.
The award was presented to Dr. Adagadzu at Limi Hospital, Central Business District, Abuja, by the leadership of NAPS, led by Comrade Ekom Peter Ayaka, Financial Secretary of the association.
According to the students’ body, the honour was presented in recognition of Dr. Adagadzu’s exceptional contributions to the medical profession, distinguished leadership in public service, impact on community development and commitment to the advancement and welfare of Nigerian students and young people.

The citation accompanying the award read in part:
“The award was in recognition of your exceptional contribution to the medical profession, distinguished leadership in public service, remarkable impact in community development and steadfast commitment to the advancement, welfare, mentorship and empowerment of Nigerian students and young people. Congratulations.”
The association said the recognition was also a reflection of Dr. Adagadzu’s longstanding commitment to supporting young people and contributing to initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and development of students.
Adagadzu Recalls Struggles for Students’ Welfare
Speaking after receiving the award, Dr. Joseph Simon Adagadzu expressed appreciation to the leadership of NAPS for finding him worthy of the honour.
The medical consultant reflected on some of his previous engagements in support of students, particularly his efforts to improve the welfare of medical students.
He recalled his advocacy for an increase in the bursary allowance for medical students, describing it as part of his efforts to ensure that students had better support while pursuing their education.
Adagadzu also recounted how he facilitated the provision of a generator for students’ hostel accommodation at the Jos Campus, alongside other interventions undertaken to address challenges affecting students.
According to him, his commitment to supporting students goes beyond individual interventions, noting that he has consistently sought opportunities to contribute to programmes that improve the lives and prospects of young Nigerians.
He further assured the students’ association of his continued readiness to support its legitimate initiatives whenever the need arises.
NAPS Commends Commitment to Young Nigerians
The students’ body described Dr. Adagadzu as a medical professional and public-spirited leader whose contributions have extended beyond his professional responsibilities.
NAPS said his involvement in community interventions, student welfare initiatives, mentorship and youth empowerment demonstrated the importance of professionals using their positions and experience to contribute to society.
The association noted that recognising individuals who have distinguished themselves in service would encourage more professionals and public figures to invest in the development of Nigerian students and young people.

The award presentation at Limi Hospital brought together representatives of the students’ association and Dr. Adagadzu in an event aimed at celebrating his contributions to healthcare, leadership and student development.
NAPS expressed confidence that the recognition would further strengthen the relationship between the association and stakeholders committed to improving the welfare, education and empowerment of Nigerian students.
