Gaya Assures APC Stakeholders of Fairness, Consultation and Equal Sense of Belonging
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Caucus Leader in Gaya Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya, has reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive leadership, party unity and collective progress, assuring stakeholders that no member will be left behind.
Gaya said the APC remained a broad political family capable of accommodating diverse interests, stressing that the party’s strength depended on unity, mutual respect and the ability to bring members together around a common vision.
He maintained that leadership should not be used to promote factional dominance or create divisions among members, but rather to foster understanding and ensure that every stakeholder had a sense of belonging.
“Our party is big enough for all interests. My responsibility is not to create loyalists or divide members into camps, but to build a winning family where every bloc, every stakeholder and every committed member sees themselves as part of our collective journey,” he said.
The APC caucus leader noted that political positions were temporary and should not become a source of division among party members, adding that those who had previously occupied positions and those who had yet to do so remained equal members of the party.
“Positions have come and gone. Some of us have been fortunate to occupy certain positions, while others have not. But political positions are temporary. Today, there is no winner and no loser. We are all members of one winning family,” Gaya stated.
He assured party members that his leadership would be guided by fairness, consultation and respect for differing interests, adding that no individual or group would be deliberately excluded from the party’s affairs.
Gaya also called on party elders, youths, women, grassroots mobilisers, former aspirants and loyal members to put past grievances behind them and work collectively towards strengthening the APC’s organisational structure.
He urged stakeholders to resist divisive tendencies and prioritise dialogue, reconciliation and cooperation in the interest of the party’s unity and future electoral engagements.
According to him, genuine leadership should be measured by its ability to unite people and build consensus rather than the number of loyalists gathered around an individual.
“Genuine leadership is not measured by the number of loyalists a leader gathers, but by the number of people he brings together. My commitment is to carry everybody along and give every interest a sense of belonging. Nobody should be treated as an outsider in a family to which we all belong,” he said.
The APC leader further assured stakeholders that his doors remained open to members seeking dialogue and greater participation in party affairs.
Emphasising the need for collective ownership, Gaya said the party’s structure should serve the interests of all members rather than a select few.
“We will not build a house for a few; we will build a home for all. Together, we are stronger,” he added.
His remarks underscore his stated commitment to an inclusive approach to party leadership, with an emphasis on reconciliation, stakeholder engagement and unity among APC members in Gaya Local Government.
