Speaker Calls for Unity, Warns Against Anti-Party Activities as APC Leaders Mobilise for Tinubu, Wadada, Other Candidates

The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr. Danladi Jatau, has donated N6 million and distributed 1,100 wrappers to constituents in Kokona Local Government Area as part of efforts to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Jatau, who represents Kokona West Constituency in the State Assembly, announced the donations during a marathon APC stakeholders’ meeting he convened on Thursday in Garaku, the headquarters of Kokona LGA.

The meeting brought together elected and appointed political officeholders, party leaders, ward executives and other stakeholders from the local government to discuss party unity, mobilisation and preparations for the 2027 elections.

Addressing participants, the Speaker said the meeting was organised to strengthen unity among APC members, address internal disagreements and develop strategies for the party’s performance in the forthcoming elections.

He warned party members against anti-party activities, stressing that collective commitment and cooperation would be necessary to achieve the party’s objectives.

“Let us come together and work as a family. APC is our party, and we will win in 2027 by God’s grace,” he said.

Jatau described Kokona as a strong APC base and urged stakeholders to intensify mobilisation across their respective wards and polling units.

He said he had delayed making certain political moves until after the party primaries to assess the situation, adding that reports reaching him suggested that some members might not be fully committed to the party.

The Speaker called on his supporters to rally behind the APC’s candidates, including Hon. Daniel Oga Ogazi, who is seeking election to the House of Representatives for the Karu/Keffi/Kokona Federal Constituency.

“If you are for APC, work for APC. If you worked for me and I did not win the APC ticket for the House of Representatives, you have no reason not to support my brother, Hon. Daniel Oga Ogazi, and other APC candidates in 2027,” he said.

He urged party faithful to support Tinubu, Wadada and all APC candidates in the general elections.

Jatau Distributes 1,100 Wrappers, Donates N6 Million

As part of the meeting, Jatau announced the distribution of 1,100 wrappers among the 11 wards in Kokona Local Government Area, with each ward expected to receive 100 wrappers.

He also announced a donation of N6 million to his constituents.

The Speaker said the gestures were intended to support his constituents and demonstrate his commitment to the people while urging party members to work together ahead of the elections.

He further appealed to APC stakeholders to embrace forgiveness and reconciliation, noting that internal divisions could undermine the party’s cohesion.

“Let us have the spirit of forgiveness for the unity, peace, progress and development of the party,” he added.

Speaker Commends Governor Sule Over Road Project

Jatau commended Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule for approving the construction of Bassa Road, saying the project would improve agricultural activities and boost the socioeconomic development of communities in the area.

He also praised the governor for ongoing developmental initiatives across the state.

The Speaker urged residents to reject ethnic and religious divisions and embrace peaceful coexistence, regardless of their political, ethnic or religious affiliations.

APC Stakeholders Pledge Support for 2027

Speaking at the meeting, the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Education, Hon. John Mamman; Kokona Local Government Chairman, Hon. Mek Agbawu Mek; APC Chairman in Kokona, Jacob Terry Bado; Speaker of the Kokona Legislative Council, Hon. AbdulKarim Gona; and other party stakeholders pledged their commitment to mobilising support for APC candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

Other speakers included Hon. Joel Olugbo, a party stakeholder, and former state commissioner Hon. Jamila Sarki.

They called on residents to support the party’s candidates while reiterating the need to discourage ethnic and religious politics.

The stakeholders also commended Governor Sule for road construction and other development projects in the area.

Ogazi Assures Constituents of Quality Representation

Speaking on behalf of APC candidates in the area, Hon. Daniel Oga Ogazi, the party’s candidate for the Karu/Keffi/Kokona Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, thanked Jatau for his support and commitment to the party.

Ogazi said the candidates were prepared to provide quality representation if elected in 2027.

He appealed to party members, community leaders and residents to support the APC candidates during the forthcoming elections.

Earlier, the APC Chairman in Kokona LGA, Jacob Terry Bado, said the meeting was convened at the instance of the Speaker.
