The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Benue State Chapter, has criticised former House of Representatives member, Hon. Terngu Tsegba, over what it described as attacks against the party and its candidate for the Benue North-West Senatorial District, Dr. Eunice Ortom.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Bright Yima Antyo, the PDP challenged Tsegba to focus on his record in public office rather than attacking the party and its candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party argued that Tsegba should acknowledge the political platform through which he rose to national prominence, noting that he spent 16 years representing his constituency in the House of Representatives.

According to the PDP, the party supported Tsegba through successive electoral contests and political challenges and also provided opportunities for him to occupy leadership positions in the National Assembly.
“It is therefore astonishing that a man who benefited so extensively from the goodwill of the PDP now seeks relevance by attacking the same party and its candidate,” the statement said.
The party further questioned what it described as Tsegba’s enduring legislative legacy after 16 years in the House of Representatives.
“After 12 years in the House of Representatives, what enduring legacy did he leave behind? What transformative projects can he point to? How did the lives of ordinary constituents improve under his stewardship?” the PDP asked.
The party said such questions were more relevant to the electorate than what it described as personal attacks against political opponents.
PDP Defends Eunice Ortom
The PDP also defended Dr. Eunice Ortom, who emerged as the party’s candidate for the Benue North-West Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 elections.
Reports published in June 2026 said PDP leaders and stakeholders across Zone B reaffirmed their support for Ortom after consultations that produced her as the party’s consensus candidate.
The Benue PDP said criticism of her candidacy should be subjected to issues, policies, ideas and the democratic process rather than personal attacks.
It also referenced the political role of former Governor Samuel Ortom in the PDP, particularly his involvement in the party’s zoning processes and the emergence of Iyorchia Ayu as national chairman in 2021. Contemporary reports confirm that Ortom backed Ayu during the North-Central consensus process.

The party urged its members and supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, saying it would not be distracted by what it described as attacks against its candidates.
“The 2027 elections will not be won through insults, propaganda or political tantrums. They will be won on the strength of ideas, records, credibility and the confidence of the people,” the statement said.
