Abaji Council Chairman Assures NYSC Corps Members Of Safety.

The chairman of Abaji Area Council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, has assured the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the area of the protection of their lives and property.

Ajiya, who was speaking while addressing the newly posted batch (A) corps members at his office on Tuesday, said the protection of lives and property of the corps members became imperative since the scheme was established as a symbol of unity irrespective of religion, tribe of ethnic differences.

He said though, the issue of security was a collective responsibility of everyone, saying there was for every individual to support the security agents to tackle the challenge of insecurity bedevilling not only the council but the entire country.

“The issue of insecurity is not only peculiar to Abaji alone, as it is global challenge, hence, we must join hands with synergize with our security agents to tackle it” he said.

The chairman, disclosed that the council had directed the works department to accurate expenses for the renovation of the council male corpers lodge, adding that the council was also concluding arrangements to hand over a newly completed structures to the NYSC for the female cor

pers lodge in the area.

He, therefore, advised the corps members to always endeavor to remain in their place of assignments.

Speaking earlier on behalf of the corps members, Deborah Orioye, told the chairman about the security challenge facing the female corpers lodge in the area, which she said suspected hoodlums recently broke into their lodge and disposed them of their phones and undisclosed sum of money.

She also complained over the dilapidated state of the female corpers lodge, which she said most of the room doors, ceiling and roofings are in bad shape, adding that some soke-away are also broken.

“And we are also facing the challenge of lack of water at the female corpers lodge as we mostly depend on buying water from the vendor which sometimes make us late for our PPA meeting,” she said.

Global Times Nigeria, report that the corp members were led on the visit to the council chairman by the local government NYSC zonal inspector, Prince Joseph N. Kwesaba.
