Ahead of today’s official flag-off ceremony of the campaign of Abia 2023 Gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party, Dr Alex Otti, and the unveiling of all its candidates running for various political seats in the forthcoming 2023 general elections in Abia state, the Labour Party standard-bearer for Umuahia east constituency seat election, Hon Austin Okezie Meregini, has enjoined the people of umuahia east, and entire Abians and as well as lovers of democracy residing in the state to troop out enmasse to identify with Labour Party, describing the party as only genuine alternative to the economic rejuvenation, human empowerment and development and Infrastructural growth of Abia state when elected to form the next government in Abia state next year.
Hon Meregini who is popularly known as “Ugolee” by his party members, business associates, friends and mammoth of his teeming supporters across umuahia east Constituency was speaking with a cross section of journalists at his Umuana Ndume Ibeku countryhome in Umuahia on Wednesday, maintained that Labour Party has gained the wider grassroot supports base in 184 electoral wards of the seventeen local government areas in the state, and reassured that Labour Party is poised and ready to participate fully in the 2023 elections, and confided that the party will win majority of political seats in Abia state as it has men and women of proven integrity as her candidates.
He posited that the unprecedented acceptability, overwhelming popularity, and quality of candidates Labour Party is fronting for the fast-approaching elections are now shivering other opposition parties as the electorates are more determined and resolute not to cast their votes along party lines, adding that Abia people have decided to rally round credible candidates who possesed the requisite capacity, needed competence and expertises to deliver the democratic dividends to them when elected into office next year.
“The needed dividends of democracy can only be fostered and engendered by Government of Labour Party come 2023 in Abia state”, Meregini assured.
The frontline Candidate of the Labour Party further reiterated that his bid to represent umuahia east constituency in was propelled by the clarion call and yearnings of the people of umuahia east for ultimate solution to numerous decadence in Infrastructures, dwindling economic potentialities of the constituency, rising unemployment rates, youth restiveness, lack of genuine youth, men and women empowerment and developement, cases of ecological problems ravaging some local communities in umuahia east, negligence and marginalization of local areas or communities in the state constituency mostly in the attraction of building and execution of impactful government’s projects etc, promising to offer effective and responsive representation which shall be shrouded on the attraction of the building of meaningful social, economic and infrastructural amenities, and numerous of others, in enhancing the welfare of the people, and deepening robust development in all facets of umuahia east when the constituents had longed for, when elected as the next member and lawmaker in Abia state House of Assembly in the 2023 main elections.
“These above-mentioned social economic and Infrastructural amenities are tilted at improving livelihoods in umuahia east constituency. All these and many others as contained in my manifestos will be actualized through the presentation and sponsoring of motions and result-oriented bills, and as well as making of sound and development-oriented laws to ensure constituents thrive in respective businesses in the area by accessing these amenities. My desire to represent our people in umuahia east state constituency at Abia House of Assembly is predicated on effectiveness, responsiveness, accessibility, accountability, purposefulness, and inclusiveness in the attraction of execution of life-touching projects in local areas and communities that formed Umuahia east constituency when entrusted with people’s mandate to become their State lawmaker representing them in Abia Legislative Arm of Government in 2023 elections”.
Meregini who also used the medium to congratulate the Abia 2023 Gubernatorial Candidate of the Labour Party, Dr Alex Chioma Otti on the official flag-off ceremony of his electioneering campaigns, and formal unveiling and handing over of party flags to all candidates of the Labour Party in Abia state by the Party’s Presidential Candidate for the 2023 main elections in the country, His Excellency, Dr Peter Obi and members of the National Working Committee of the Labour Party led by the national chairman.
While welcoming Labour Party Presidential candidate and national officers of the party to Abia state on Thursday(today), Hon Austin Okezie Meregini, however, reechoed his earlier call on the people of umuahia east state constituency, teeming supporters of Labour Party across the constituency and the state, and real lovers of democracy across the southeast zone to troop out in their large numbers, and identify with the Labour party as it kick start her campaigns and rallies for the 2023 general elections, which is the rightful time to salvage Abia from bad governance, and Umuahia east state constituency from legislative redundancy and misrepresentations.
