Abia APGA chairman, Egwu harps on reconcilation among aggrieved state party members

Emmanuel Egwu, the chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) in Abia state, has stressed on unity of purpose among aggrieved party members in the state.

He lauded the peace move initiated by Chief Sly Ezeokenwa-led national working committee of the APGA which is aimed at reconciling all aggrieved  members in some state chapters of the party.

Mr Egwu who stated this at the weekend, while fielding questions from journalists in Umuahia, the Abia state capital.

He expressed implicit confidence in the newly-constituted reconcilation committee by the national leadership of the party to broker peace and unite all aggrieved party leaders and members in order to reposition the Abia chapter for future electoral breakthroughs.

While also dismissing the misgivings on the purported existence of factional leadership of the APGA in Abia, Egwu maintained there is no parallel structure of the party being operated by anybody in the state.

He added that the recent unfolding developments in the state chapter which was necessated by outcome of the concluded party primaries held in the state last year by APGA national leadership chaired by Ozonkpu Victo Oye, andas minor family squabbles, the party is sticking with its internal conflict resolution mechanisms to address all matters amicably.

His words: “I have confidence in the capacity and ability of the reconciliation committee recently set by our party’s national chairman, Chief Sly Ezeokenwa in resolving all teething issues which trumped up current internal squabbles in Abia APGA.

“So, i would want to use this great opportunity and medium to admonish aggrieved party to sheathe their swords, and work in unity so as to enable APGA attain greatness and secure a winning n majority of elective political positions in Abia state.

“And i equally believe the reconciliation committee shall provide a level playing grounds and ensure all party members who are aggrieved for one reason or the other are carried along in the administration of party’s affairs. Nobody should be excluded. All should be given a sense of belongings to enable APGA achieve electoral breakthroughs in future political outing or contest”.

The Abia chairman further revealed that, the newly-elected executive committee led by him in the state had met and familiarized with APGA faithfuls from the ward to the state level, wherein the new executives also unveiled the blueprints aimed at smoothen

Egwu however used the medium to call on members and teeming party supporters across all the local government areas in Abia to remain steadfast and shun the divisive tendencies of the enemies of democracy who are bent to perpetually truncate the party’s efforts to form a true government in Abia and engender the needed dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of every Abia citizens irrespective of ethnic and political leanings.
