The statement by the Kogi State PDP Chairman, Engr Sam Uhuotu at the opening of the Presidential Campaign Rally in Lokoja recently that Kogi is “hyper Atikulated” is a concise description of the euphoria that greeted the large turnout of party faithful and supporters who defied threat to their security and rights of association to attend one of the best organised and attended political rallies in Lokoja in recent times.
By the massive campaign effort, the people of Kogi State succeeded in making a bold statement of the desire of the down trodden to take their destiny in their hands,to revise the ugly trend that has put Nigeria as the poverty capital of the world.
The Kogi state campaign, indeed bears testimony to the desire of the people to reclaim the state by returning it to where it belongs, PDP.
We congratulate the organisers of the event who worked assiduously towards a colourful and peaceful rally, and all party faithful and supporters who despite all encumbrances thronged into the stadium in their thousands, locking down Lokoja and sending shivers down the spines of a sitting government.
The statement was suggestive that Kogi is in the kitty for PDP and there will be no looking back until we breast the tape.
The few “take-aways” from the Saturday 14th January outing of our great party indicates that:
The leaders are united behind the Presidential Candidate, His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar, GCON, and his running mate, Dr.Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State.
The Director General of the Kogi State Presidential Campaign Council, KPCC was able to put up a commendable campaign rally despite the lean resources at his disposal.
The gridlock witnessed in Lokoja, the state capital on the day of the rally signifies a quit notice to the APC that is a tenant in the Kogi Government House.
We have solid and tested Senatorial Candidates who can effectively hold their own to come out victorious at the polls come February 25 election.
With the return of the triumvirate of Simon Achuba, Alfa Imam and Yahaya Karaku to their traditional PDP home with thousands of their supporters, the coast is clear for victory at the polls next month.
It is instructive to know that the ripple effect has started manifesting by the defection of not less than One hundred and sixty five supporters in the Idoji ward of Okene LGA within 24hrs after the grand rally.
The desire of the people for the resuscitation of the comatose Ajaokuta Steel industry, to make it the bedrock of our industrial growth and to provide jobs for the teeming unemployed youths, as well as the creation of Inland Port in Lokoja were not lost on the Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who made a promise to the effect when PDP takes over government at the centre.
We congratulate the leaders of PDP from the Chairman of the State PCC,His Excellency, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris; His Excellency Capt.Idris Wada, former Governor of Kogi State; the State Party Chairman,Engr.Sam Uhuotu and members of the State Working Committee of PDP; DG of the Campaigns, Arc.Yomi Awoniyi and all Committee members of the PCC for a job well done.
On the list of those who made the success story of PDP possible are Senators Tunde Ogbeha and Dino Melaye, as well as the three Senatorial Candidates-Victor Adoji, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and Teejay Yusuf among other party candidates and chieftains who mobilized supporters across the state for the epoch making event. We congratulate everyone.
Remember it is not yet over until we return the state to PDP. The effort starts with you. Collect your PVC, vote for PDP, guard and defend your vote jealously until victory is ascertained.
God bless our efforts.
