Constitution Review: Kogi Traditional Rulers Advocate Role As 2nd Vice President.

Traditional rulers in Kogi state have suggested the inclusion of their roles in the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria as 2nd Vice to the President, Governor and Local Council Chairman of the tiers of governments.
Chairman of Olamaboro Traditional Council of Kogi state, HRH Ujah Simon Saidu, who represented the Kogi state council of Chiefs at the two days public hearing on the review of the constitution and amendment by the National Assembly Committee (Reps), on Tuesday in Lokoja, advocated for the reintroduction of a residual list in the constitution that will pave way for their full participation on governance as fathers of the land.
According to him the proposal which he said will create a ” quasi democracy” to give the royal fathers the responsibilities of handling peace and security matters under the ministry of culture and tourism or national agency for peace and security.
On power devolution, the traditional rulers declared support for a confederation system as a valuable option for a progressive and fast growing country in view of the open marginalisation and crude conspiracy against the people of the North Central zone by the rest of Nigeria in terms of political, economic educational and other opportunities that could have propelled the the entity and the entire nation to greatness since independence.

HRH Sani, who lamented the deliberate exclusion of the people of the north central zone from attaining the highest political position and other juicey appointments during political dispensations, however urged the national Assembly to ensure equity in their report to grant the region political and economic autonomy in the constitution so that it contributes its quota to the development of the country.
He alleged that some Nigerians out of jealousy have conspired to hold down the completion of Ajaokuta steel company simply because it is greatest asset for the nation’s wealth, industrialisation and pride.
HRH cited example of such conspiracy and sabotage accusing the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman Presidential Task Force on Covid 19, whom he said prevented the Russian steel experts from coming to Kogi state to complete the abandoned complex that has been adjudged 90% completed.
