Court of Appeal gives Omadefu APC state Assembly flag in Nasarawa

The Chairman, Nasarawa State House of Assembly committee on Information, Mohammed Omadefu has been presented with the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag to contest for Keana state Constituency seat in Nasarawa State.

Presentation of the party flag followed the Court of Appeal sitting in Makurdi, Benue State ruling which declared Omadefu the authentic winner of the APC primary for the area.

Recalled that the Federal High Sitting in Lafia had earlier declared Mohammed-Mu’azu Atose as the authentic candidate of the primary election conducted in May last year.

However, Omadefu appealed the lower court’s judgements

He was therefore presented the party’s flag by Governor Abdullahi Sule, who was represented by his deputy, Emmanuel Akabe at a ceremony in Lafia.

Speaking after the presentation of the flag to him, Omadefu described the judgement as a victory for democracy and rule of law, while hailing the judiciary for standing by the truth.
He said, ” Looking at the processes I have being through and at the end of the day, what I was hoping for has come to reality, I feel very fulfilled to be the flag bearer for the second time to contest for Keana Constituency at the State Assembly seat.

” It is part of the electioneering process that when certain actions negate the primary election, anybody can seek redress and my opponent had earlier approached a trial court sitting in Lafia to challenge my emergency as the winner of the election.

” After the trial court’s judgment, I wasn’t comfortable with the substance of the judgement and therefore, I took the matter to appear court and the verdict of the court is in my favour.”

Speaking during the presentation of the flag, Governor Sule urged party members to forget their differences and accept the will of God at all times to enable them work assiduously for the success of the party.

In his remarks, the state chairman of APC, Dr John Mamman, hailed Omadefu for his victory at the appeal court, nothing that justice can never be denied.

“Today we are today presenting this flag to the winner of the seat following the recent judgement delivered on 2/2/2023 at the appeal court,” he said.

He urged Omadefu to use the court verdict as a means of promoting mutual cohesion for sustainable progress of the party.
