Easter: Intensify Prayers To Overcome COVID-19, Nasarawa Speaker

Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, has urged Christians and other believers to use the Easter period to enhance prayers to overcome the challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic to the nation and the world at large.

This is contained in a statement by Press Secretary to the Speaker, Jibrin Gwamna and made available to newsmen on Friday in Lafia.

The statement quotes the speaker as saying that prayers is very significant in all aspects of human existence, hence the need for Christians and other Nigerians to pray fervently in that direction.

Balarabe Abdullahi urged Christians to use the holy period to intensify prayers for the country to overcome the challenge of Coronavirus and other emerging challenges facing the nation.

“The situation we find ourselves is a trial moment for the nation that will come to pass by God’s grace”

” As this COVID-19 has posed serious challenge to the nation and the world at large, especially as it affects the health,religion and wellbeing of Nigerians as well as the socioeconomic development of the country, ” the speaker said.

He called on all to have faith in God, support one another and cooperate with government in order to contain the spread of the disease in the country.

Balarabe Abdullahi enjoined citizens to see government decision of staying at home and other policies to contain the spread of Coronavirus as not to increase suffering on people but positive steps aimed at tackling the situation.

The state number three citizen congratulates Christians for marking yet another Easter and appreciated all religious bodies and the entire citizens for their show of understanding so far since the outbreak of the dreaded disease.

He called for more understanding with authorities and more faith for God to take the nation and the world out of it.

Balarbe Abdullahi enjoined all Nigerians, especially citizens of Nasarawa State to continue to respect constituted authorities and obey the law of the land as well as adhere strictly to advised by health experts regarding the outbreak of COVID-19.

The speaker also appreciated the steps so far taken by Gov Abdullahi Sule to contain Covid-19 in the state and restated the continued commitment of the state Assembly to synergize with the executive arm to improve on the general wellbeing of the people of Nasarawa State.

He called on Christians and others Nigerians to continue to pray for God’s guidance to the leaders at all levels to succeed.

Besides, the number three citizen, has urged the people of the state to observe total compliance with the directives given by government and experts to fight Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.

He enjoined the citizens to stay home, embrace social distancing and adhere strictly to other preventive measures against COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the speaker, some of the preventive measures against the deadly virus are regular washing of hands, avoid touching of face, social distancing and maintenance of personal hygiene, among others.
