Eid-el-Fitr: Bello Preaches Peace Unity Of Nigeria.

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, on Thursday joined thousands of Muslim faithfuls at the Lokoja township stadium for the Eid el Fitr prayer to mark the end of 30 days Ramadan fasting.

While urging all Muslim faithfuls to ensure that the lessons learnt during the Ramadan season and their act of devotions remained a consistent way of life, advised them to adhere strictly to the teachings of Islam on peace.

He noted that Ramadan was a season of several teachings
that centered on humanity,
kindness, and peace and hece if these lessons were imbibed many of the problems in our country would have been tackled.

Governor Bello who used the opportunity to harp on the gains of the peaceful co existence and national integration, noted with sadness the current insecurity situation, which was caused by disunity, lack of cohesion and patriotism.

He observed that ” Nigeria’s greatest achievements as a nation lies in its being united and not allowing ethnic, religion and political party affiliations to divide us”.

Bello who insisted on the unity of the country, called on the political and religious leaders to unite and reject violence ,also advised the youths to ignore those leaders beating drums of war.

He expressed disappointment with some political and religious leaders that are fanning embers of disunity by encouraging sectional agitations that will not be in the interest of anyone, reiterating that, ” instead we should collectively proffer solution to the numerous ills of our nation through effective democratic participation”.

The Governor re stated the commitment of his administration to ensuring that Kogi State and its people continued to enjoy the dividends of democracy which could only be guaranteed when lives and properties of people are safe.
