A chieftain of the Labour Party (LP) from the southeast, Hon Nnaemeka Akachukwu, has adduced the rationale behind his bid to represent the Awgu south Constituency of Enugu State in the State House of Assembly in 2023.

He hinged his decision on the insensitivity of those entrusted with people’s mandate to attract developmental projects and government’s impactful programs to improve the economy and the general welfare of the people.

Mr. Akachukwu, who currently serves as National youth leader of Ndigbo United Forum (NUF) Worldwide, who was speaking during an interview with newsmen on Wednesday, maintained that enough had not been accomplished to enhance socio-economic and Infrastructural growth and development of Awgu south state constituency, assuring that he would channel his wealth of experience, to rewrite the narratives in the governance of Awgu south constituency, through attractions of productive, peoples-oriented and social amenities to enhance many livelihoods in the state constituency which shrouds on bills, laws and through oversight functions.

He frowned at the recycling of old politicians without democratic ideologies and well-defined plans for the development and people of the Enugu state, like that, had continued to place Awgu South constituency among the comity of Enugu constituencies with the highest and worst records of Infrastructural decadence, unemployment rate, etc, adding that it now turns off the youths to mount the saddle of leadership of Enugu state and Nigeria at large.

According to LP Standard-bearer, “they said youths are the leaders of tomorrow, so on that premise, I’m running for the Enugu House of Assembly seat of Awgu south. I’m also in the 2023 race to change that narrative. Enough has been done to give Awgu Constituency facelifts, and I assure the people of effective and responsive representation that we address most of their yearnings and challenges when elected as members of the Enugu State House of Assembly come 2023.

“I will also interface with relevant arms and organs of governments to facilitate or attract social investment programs to empower the youths, men and women, especially at the grassroots, for there to be self-dependent, self-reliable and self-productive and self-reliable to sheltered and food their families. All my activities will be centered on making laws that will the raise Infrastructure and human development”, he added.

Asked to speak on the 2023 presidential bid of Dr. Peter Obi, Mr. Nnaemeka Akachukwu also maintained that the ex-Governor of Anambra state possesses the needed and requisite capacity, ability, competencies, expertise, and charisma to rescue Nigerian citizens from myriads of systematic problems, ranging from insecurity, Infrastructural deficits, economic downturn, joblessness, youth restiveness and deplorable state of health delivery, collapsed education, etc.

He expressed disenchantment with the continued marginalization of the southeast zone of the Igbo extraction in the present democratic dispensation in Nigeria, especially the deliberate denial of the region of its turn to produce President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor by the governing All Progressive Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party despite immense contributions of the Igbos in nation-building, peace unity and development of the country, insisting that indigo have no future, or their interests protected under the two dominant political parties in Nigeria.

The Party Stalwart further explained that the dominant parties have betrayed the people of the Igbo nation as both political parties had enjoyed enormous support and goodwill from the ethnic nationality since the assumption of democracy in the country in 1999, insisting that the action of the parties is completely unhealthy towards the collective efforts of all patriotic Nigerians to the restoring and recovering the lost peace and unity of the nation.

Akachukwu, however, canvassed support for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Dr. Peter Obi in the forthcoming 2023 main elections across the states of the Nigeria federation, including Abuja, as he remained the only alternative to Nigeria’s quest for greatness, advising all eligible citizens to visit any designated units or points by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to register, revalidate for the Permanent Voters Card (PVC), to enable them to enthrone a responsive government at all levels of the country in 2023, for their good and enhancement of the welfare of Nigerian populace.
