By Sadiq Abubakar, Abuja.

The FCT police commissioner, Bala Ciroma, has disclosed that a joint security team has been launched to clampdown on unauthorized use of covered plate numbers and tinted glasses across the territory.

Ciroma, who is also the chairman of the joint taskforce, made this known in a statement by the command spokesperson ASP Maryam Yusuf, in Abuja on Wednesday, said such move was to get rid of the FCT of crimes.

He said the operation has become extremely necessary due to the recent security threat analysis conducted by the joint team, which he said revealed that criminal syndicates now execute their nefarious activities using tinted vehicles with covered number plates.

“And therefore, the team wishes to sound a note of warning to residents using unauthorized covered number plates and tinted vehicles within the FCT to desists as violators will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly,” he said.
