FCT Minister Appoints Abdullaziz Usman As New Etsu Of Wako.

The Minister  of state for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Hajiya Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, has the appointment of Usman Abdullaziz Ibrahim, as the new Etsu of Wako chiefdom in Kwali Area Council of the territory.

The appointment of the new Wako chief, was contained in a letter and signed by the minister, and copied to the chairman of Kwali Area council, Hon Danladi Chiya, a copy of which was obtained by Global Times Nigeria, the minsiter said the appointment was premised on appreciation of the principles of Wako chiefdom based on historical tradition.

She added that the appointment was also based on resolution of Wako king makers of Monday, 21st December, 2020, the FCT council of chiefs, which he added that it was also unanimously resolved by the FCT council of chiefs.

According to her, the appointment of the new chief was part of an excercise of power conferred on her by section 1 of the chiefs (Appointment and Disppossion) FCT Act No. 8 of 1997.

“And it is in view of the above, you are please invited to note that this exalted traditional office demands a high sense of responsibility, maturity and commitment which you must excercise always,” she said.

The minister, therefore, said that details of the arrangement for the installation and presentation of staff of office to the new Wako chief will communicated to him in due course.

Meanwhile, the chairman of Kwali Area council, Hon Danladi Chiya, has congratulated the newly appointed chief of Wako chiefdom, and urged him to ensure he unite all the Abawa indigenes across the council.

Hon Chiya, who gave the advice while presenting the appointment letter to the chief at his residence on Friday, also urged the monarch to ensure peaceful coexistence among people of his chiefdom irrespective of tribe, ethnic and religious affiliation.

“And I will also want you to see every one in your chiefdom as all your people irrespective of their tribal or religious background, you need them and they also need you and you should ensure you do justice to any them,” he said.

 

The chairman, further urged the monarch to ensure that he identified with those they stood with him despite all odds to ensure that he emerged as the next traditional ruler of Wako chiefdom, advising that such people should be recognise and rewarded with traditional Chieftaincy titles.

Responding, the Madaki of Wako chiefdom, while speaking through the Etsu of Wako, Abdulaziz Usman, appreciated the council chairman for tireless efforts in ensuring that justice prevailed.

He said the role of the council chairman, FCT Senator Philip Aduda and other stakeholders in the council will for ever remained in history of Wako chiefdom in ensuring that that a new chief emerged from next ruling house.
