FCT Polls: Senator Aduda Meet Chairmanship Aspirants, Calls for Rancour Free Primaries.

Ahead of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chairmanship primary election, slated for Thursday, April 22, Senator Philip Aduda representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has met with all the Chairmanship aspirants across the six Area Councils on the platform of the PDP to ensure a rancour free exercise, before, during and after the process.

Senator Aduda, while addressing aspirants in Abuja, on Tuesday, also called on the stakeholders as well as officials of the party to ensure peaceful coexistence and harmony during the primaries.

He said it was important for all the Chairmanship aspirants to remain united among themselves, which he said will make the party to continue to wax stronger and win all the elective positions during the election.

He also stressed on the need for the aspirants to adhere to the guidelines and principles of the party, while advising them to seat down and dialogue among themselves with the possibility of who will step down for each other.

He encouraged the aspirants not to see the contest as a do or die affairs, saying there are many that would be rewarded after the polls.

“And besides, we would need everyone to come back to the drawing board at the end to ensure victory for the party at the general election come 22nd April, 2022, hence, I advice the Chairmanship aspirants to sit down among themselves to see how they can resolve amicably where one person can step down for the other aspirant,” he said.

Earlier, the chairman of the PDP in the FCT, Sunday Zaka, said the party had been able to conduct its councillorship primaries across the 62 political wards peacefully without any rancour.

He said the results sheets for the councillorship primaries are ready for collection to the various wards across the six area councils, saying the party was making effort to ensure that the conduct of the Chairmanship primaries are free, fair and credible.

Global Times Nigeria, report that those who also spoke at the meeting included, the member house of representatives AMAC /Bwari federal constituency, Hon. Micah Jiba and that of Abuja South federal constituency, Hon. Hassan Usman Sokodabo.

They both expressed optimism in the process saying after the primary elections, the party would come out stronger and ready to win the general election come 2022.

It would be recalled that FCT, INEC had fixed February, 22, 2022 for Area Councils Chairmanship election in the territory.
