FG Cash Transfer Programs, Empowers Poor, Vulnerable In Over 61 Communities, Kogi LG Through Monthly Disbursement – Kogi LG Desk Officer Says

Mr Mahmud Saidu, an official with the Kogi LG Unit of the Cash Transfer Office, said the monthly money was paid to poor and vulnerable persons across 10 out of 11 ward in the council.

The Federal Government has so far paid millions to support the poor in Kogi LG under its Social Re-investment Programme.

Mr. Saidu, said every poor beneficiary capture in the data stand a chance to received N10,000 every months.

With the training which has its theme, “Enrollment of Cash Transfer Beneficiaries empowering poor, vulnerable Nigerians. “better don come”,

He said that the programme which covered 10 ward in the council, began 2017 with the first 9 LGAs began in 2016.

He said the beneficiaries had been encouraged to form “financially active groups where so many have benefited from the contribution scheme.”

On the training, Saidu said it was to acquaint the facilitators on the use of relevant technologies to enrol new beneficiaries into the scheme.

“The LGC Cash Transfer Unit has received a list of 40602 making Kogi LG top in the list as large beneficiary of the exercise after Idah LG.

The programs were part of the social intervention program of President Muhammadu Buhari to alleviate poverty in the country by targeting the poorest of the poor.

“It is in the forefront of the scheme of President Buhari’s efforts in tackling poverty across the state by uplifting the most vulnerable out of the poverty bracket within a time frame, ” he added.

The Desk Officer said identification of vulnerable poor in communities across the LG was ongoing, adding that “ the only ward remaining has been discovered, more beneficiaries will be captured few days from now”.

He also said beneficiary we’re usually communicated with specific date on the day of disbursement. He said.
