Following the discovery of fake employments in the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology by suspected cartel, the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Education on Monday, August 16, 2021 quashed the earlier employments of 366 secondary school teachers which its considered as fake for lack of due process.
Speaking on the matter, Hon Daniel Ogazi, the Chairman House Committee Education gave the directive at a meeting with the management of Ministry of Education and Teacher’s Service Commission (TSC) in Lafia, the State capital.
Daniel Ogazi (APC) who represent Kokona constituency said that the House was not in any way against employment of teachers in the state but due process must be follow to ensure that the most qualified candidates are employed or emerged.
He said “We are calling for the suspension of the employments of 366 secondary school teachers in the state.
“We have earlier suspended everything about the teachers appointments since process that brought them was faulting, due procedure was not followed in employing the teachers.
” This directive does not mean that we don’t want employment but due process must be followed for improved standard of education in the state,” he said.
Ogazi has directed the state Teacher’s Service Commission to suspend its advertisement for the recruitment of new secondary school teachers in the state.
“For now, all processes of employment of teachers should be stopped,” he added.
Global Times Nigeria reports that the Kokona born lawmaker lauded the effort of State Commissioner for Education, Hajiya Fati Sabo for being up and doing in improving on the standard of education in the state.
