Insecurity: Southeast party chieftain, Emma Uche lauds effective security architecture in Abia

A stalwart of the labour party, Mazi Emma Uche, has applauded the unwavering commitment of the present government in Abia state towards security of lives and property of the people in the state.
He also lauded the governor for the payment of the operational allowances of the Nigerian Navy and other security agencies in Abia state, insisting that insecurity is a serious issue not only in southeast but the whole country.
Mr Uche who gave the applause in a statement issued at the weekend in Umuahia, the state capital, on the backdrops of the recent launch of joint security initiative codenamed, ‘Operation Crush’ by the Governor Alex Otti.
Recall that Governor Otti explained the operation crush initiative was the government’s strong and coordinated response to the lingering challenge of insecurity in Abia areas which has made life nightmarish for many people.
The joint security task force is constituted by operatives of the Nigerian Police Force, the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Directorate of State Security and the Nigerian Navy.
Earlier, Mr Emma Uche, while earlier speaking at the weekend, maintained that the recently-launched security initiative by the state governor has sent a strong message that no hiding place for criminals in Abia state.
He regretted the troubling incidents of kidnapping and armed banditry being in some Abia areas caused by alleged failure of the past successive administrations controlled by the Peoples Democratic Party in Abia to demonstrate capacity in putting to an end the incessant cases of kidnapping and many other crimes.
According to him, these troubling cases of armed banditry and kidnapping had continued to halt socio-economic activities and made people flee their homes and farmlands in some past years.
The party stakeholder also cautioned security agents involved in the exercise against harassing innocent citizens, saying they would be held accountable for any act of overzealousness.
Uche tasked security agencies which constituted the newly launched operation crush initiative, on improvement in intelligence gathering as key to the success of the exercise.
He also reminded the citizens and community leaders on their role in providing useful information on the locations and hideouts of criminals living within their local areas, insisting that nothing much could be achieved without intelligence gathering.
While further soliciting cooperation of every Abia citizens with relevant security agencies especially in the area of information dissemination on suspicious movements of persons within and outside the state, Mr Uche warned criminal elements terrorizing the residents of the state to relocate or be ready to met their waterloo if they fail to desist from their wicked attacks on innocent citizens in the state.
