Social Democratic Party (SDP) has advised all progressives in Nigeria to re align and re enact the democratic feat of 1993 election which produced a leader like Chief MKO Abiola, devoid of ethnic, religious, sectional and regional consideration .

Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi state, Alhaji Muktar Atima, in an exclusive interview with Global Times Nigeria during the June 12 celebration in Lokoja on Saturday, said unless Nigerian politicians especially the progressive forces re aligned to reenforce the zeal and desire for real democracy as was demonstrated in 1993, all efforts now will be in vain.

Atima explained that some of the present politicians believe that politics is business where they can invest their money and come out richer than the country at the expense of the ordinary voters through manipulation, rigging and buying of votes and the electoral officials that will help them achieve their criminal objectives.

He pleaded with the Nigerian youths to prepare to take the destiny of the nation in their hands, as sooner or later the responsibilities, leadership and management of the nation’s economy and politics will rest squarely on them.

Atima also expressed regret that the present Nigerian youths have sold themselves to the older generation ,who are not ready to groom them for future leadership, but only use them as thugs and abandoned after their questionable victories, advising that they give more time and their energies to education instead.

He noted that without the signing into law by the President, the ideals of a free, fair and credible election to showcase the sincerity of government in recognising June 12 election may not be trusted.
