In an efforts to ensure forthcoming local government elections hold as plan, The Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has on Wednesday confirmed Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s nomination of Hon Ayuba Wandai Usman and Ishaq Mohammed Baba as the Chairman and member of the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) respectively.
Rt. Hon.Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Speaker of the House announced their confirmation after the nominees appeared before the House for their screening during the House proceedings in Lafia today.
The speaker while congratulating the nominees on their confirmation, urged them to discharge their duties without fear or favour.
“The nominees are persons with proven integrity. They have the capacities to deliver
“They are competent and we believe they will discharge their duties with the fear of God.
“The House hereby confirm the nomination of Hon Ayuba Wandai Usman and Ishaq Mohammed Baba as the Chairman and member of the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) respectively, ” the speaker said.
He also commended Gov Sule for making right choice of persons to serve in the state democracy House.
The Speaker directed the clerk of the House to communicate the House resolution to Gov. Abdullahi Sule for his action.
Earlier Hon Mohammed Okpoku (APC Udege Loko)moved a motion for the house to confirm the NASIEC boss Ayuba Wandai who hails from Nasarawa LG and was seconded by Hon Ismaeel Suleiman Danbaba(APC Nasarawa Central) just as that of Ishaq Mohammed Baba who hails from Keffi, was moved by Hon Sulaiman Abdulaziz Danladi (SDP Keffi East)and was seconded by Hon Aliyu Ibrahim Nana(APC Keffi West).
It would be recalled that on Aug.24, 2020, Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State submitted the names of Ayuba Wandai Usman and Ishaq Mohammed Baba
to the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for confirmation as the Chairman and member of the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) respectively.
