KOBA earmarks N1bn to complete late President Yar’Adua e-library, provide infrastructure in Govt. College Keffi.

… holds AGM, reflects on old school memory days, eulogizes late President Yar’Adua, Gen. Abisoye, sets to award 3 Governors, other prominent members with KOBA highest gift Cheetah gold award tomorrow in Abuja.

Keffi Old Boys Association ( KOBA), the old Boys of Government College Keffi, Nasarawa State said it has planned to spend N1billion through fundraising for the improvement of infrastructure and completion of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua e-library in the School and create enabling environment for teaching and learning to meet up with the global best standard in education.

The President General of KOBA, Engr. Edward Ujege disclosed this during its Annual General Meeting ( AGM) held at Government College Keffi, in Nasarawa State today Friday.

Usage has disclosed that they have set up 10 point agenda for the improvement of infrastructure, modification, and improvement of the policy of operating and running the college to meet up with international best standards.

According to him, To achieve this goal, we have slated the fundraising which is coming up at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre, Abuja on Saturday, 21st May 2022 by Six O’clock in the evening.

” With regards to improvement of infrastructure, we came up with a study that listed improvement in water supply, electricity supply, security, feeding, beds, and mattresses, laboratory equipment and reagents, health care, renovation of dormitories, classrooms, and transportation.

” The review of the cost of the construction and reconstruction was estimated as N1, 000,000,000.00.

” Since our election in February 2019, we have arrived to break ground to achieve goals that you will be proud of.

” Some of these include, we created a KOBA Secretariat and purchasing office equipment.

” We assisted in reactivating the water system in the college

” Numerous sets were brought back to life and some did marvelously well in their support for the institution.

” Creation of different social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, and Telegraph to ease dissemination of information and communication among others. He said.

He said that the Central Bank Of Nigeria through its Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Adamu has embarked on massive reconstruction and rehabilitation of the infrastructure in Government College, Keffi.

” Some include the construction of a new dining hall, construction of Kaduna House, construction of a new clinic, Rehabilitation of Katsina-Ala House and science laboratories,” he added.

The KOBA President said that they have maintained a cordial relationship with the Nasarawa State Government, adding that they have also visited Gov. Abdullahi Sule all concerning the school development.

Usage has congratulated  KOBA members, who have been appointed to various positions in the country, and wished them well.

The President General has appealed to the members of the association and other well-meaning Nigerians to continue to contribute positively to the development of the school.

Also speaking, Hon Muhammad Baba Shehu, the Executive Chairman of Keffi Local Government, said he donated science equipment to encourage science education in the college and the state at large.

The chairman has also assured of his continued support for the development of the school.

Mr. Sam Israel, the Secretary-General of KOBA while reporting the association, has commended members for contributing positively to the development of the school.

The Secretary-General said that the renovation, rehabilitation, and provision of infrastructure in the school by members of the association, the State Government, and other spirited individuals have created an enabling environment thereby improving the standard of education in the school.

He has also appreciated the efforts of Gov. Abdullahi Sule in developing the school and called for its sustenance.

The Secretary-General has called on the members of the association and other spirited individuals not to relent in their efforts in ensuring the development of the school.

In his remarks, the Principal of the School, Alhaji Audu Idris Ohimege, has commended the members of the association and other spirited individuals for contributing positively to the development of the school.

He has assured that the management under his leadership would continue to ensure proper utilization of books, science equipment, and facilities to ensure their durability.

It would be reported that the association observed one-minute silence in honor of late KOBA President General Emmanuel Abisoye ( red), late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, and other members who have gone to the world beyond.

It would also be reported that the AGM featured the launching of the association’s Almanac, a donation of 1000 assorted textbooks to the school by the Abuja chapter of KOBA.

The activities of the Annual General Meeting which commenced yesterday Thursday and ended today Friday at the school in Keffi featured lots of activities in reflection of the old school memory days.

The Association also said it is set to present Three seating Governors and other prominent members with its highest gift the Cheetah Gold Award in Abuja tomorrow to climax the activities of the year.
