Kogi APC Group warns SDP against Slander/Defamation of character, Expresses Confidence in Bashir Gegu Leadership

The All Progressives Congress, APC, group in Kogi/Koton-karfe local government area has sent a strong message to detractors to exercise caution and responsibility when discussing or criticizing political leaders.

While it is essential to have open dialogue and express differing opinions, it is equally important to avoid defamatory statements or actions that may harm someone’s reputation unjustly.

Constructive criticism and respectful debates can contribute to a healthier political discourse and promote positive change.

A group, Concerned Citizens of Kogi LGA have expressed concerned and have raised an alarm over the continued defamation of character orchestrated by the opposition Social Democratic Party Candidate in the concluded Kogi State Governorship Election and his co travelers against the person of Engr. Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu, the State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources.

President of the group,Comrade Abdullahi Muhammed in a statement issued to newsmen in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, Wednesday, said;

“We are aware of campaign of calumny, character assassination on our light bearer Engr Abubakar Muhammed Bashir Gegu before, during and after the Kogi State Governorship election”.

“We wish to state that we have kept quiet for too long all this while because anytime we wanted to take legal action, the same Engr. Bashir Gegu will ask us to forget what he always call distraction and will urge us to put our eyes on the ball”.

“He will always say and I quote “those without meaningful ideas or strategy to win election are always the ones that will embark on propaganda“, will always say we should not take the detractors serious”.

” Recalled that On 29th September, 2023 SDP thugs came into Koton karfe and shot at Khadijat Yahaya and killed her. Khadijat Yahaya was a Member of APC, only for them to now blackmail her of carrying arms. Tell me why the dead will not take vengeance even though the security agencies are doing their best to bring the perpetrators to book”.

“The fear of Bashir Gegu’s loyalty and commitment to serve his people was the beginning of APC success in Kogi LGA”.

“Bashir Gegu has influenced numerous projects to Kogi LGA. The most visible ones are the Ultra Modern Hospital Gegu Beki, the Electrification of Kogi LGA and it environs. Erosion control in koton karfe, upgrading of more than 50 Traditional Rulers, supporting the Vigilantees in the fight against kidnappers and bandits. Bashir Gegu also lunched GYB cash support scheme for rural women across the 105 units of 11 wards of Kogi LGA .

“Consistently, Engr. Bashiru Gegu is always empowering the people, doing it every quarter, granting of scholarships to students, payment of hospital bills of the sick and vulnerable.
We are not mincing words to say that No Politician in Kogi LGA has Engr. Bashiru Gegu’s humanitarian records”.

“The question begging for an answer from detractors is simple. Since the inception of politics in Kogi LGA, who’s life has ever been lost due to political violence or election disagreements in Kogi LGA”.

“Painting of Bashir Gegu black by mischief makers and failed SDP members will therefore not end our support and love for him”.

“As for the SDP members trying to defame his character, it will be wise if you show good sportsmanship and accept defeat. It’s obvious that you are popular only in your district having proven that your ethnic agenda you have been preaching”.

” Let us place it on record that His Excellency, the Kogi State Governor Elect, Alh. Ododo Ahmed Usman has come to stay and will be sworn in on 27th January, 2024″.

“It is therefore the best of time for you to leave Engr. Bashir Gegu alone. This Graduate of Chemical Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria is ahead of you naturally. His Politics that is people centred and above all his love for humanity has made him tower above all your mundane sentiments”, he is loved by all and sundry within and outside Kogi LGA as you can do nothing about it.

While we continue to pray for God to protect Engr. Bashir Gegu and to grant him the wisdom and enablement to continue to impact humanity, we for the last time ask that you leave him alone, look elsewhere and let the light and our touch bearer be.
