Kogi: Bello freezes Local, State governments accounts.

IDRIS AHMED, Lokoja

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has ordered the immediate freezing of all Kogi state government’s and local governments’ accounts.

The State Commissioner for Finance, Asiwaju Asiru Idris, who disclosed to the press on Thursday, outlined a strict prohibition on any payments or imprest from the accounts.

The statement explicitly nullifies all “Standing Orders and Investment Instructions” immediately.

Sources inside Government House said the unexpected action for such a comprehensive financial halt might not be unconnected to the winding down of the Bello-led administration.

The outgoing Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, is expected to vacate office on January 27, 2024, when the governor-elect, Ahmed Usman Ododo, will be sworn in as the next Kogi governor.
