Kogi DG Task Force on illegal arms, Makama denies arrest by DSS, says “I am under going training”.

Kogi State Director General, Special Task Force on Illegal Smuggling of Fire Arms and Other Related Crimes, Elder Friday Sani Makama, has debunked the rumours making the rounds that he has been arrested by the Department of State Service, (DSS).

The Director General blamed mischief makers for the unfortunate fake information trending on social media platforms in Kogi state.

Social media platforms were recently awash with the news that the former Kogi lawmaker, who is now saddled with the responsibility of bursting illegal procurement and possession of dangerous arms and other dangerous weapons was falsely reported to have been arrested over alleged involvement in the assassination attempt on the life of the Social Democratic Party Governorship candidate, Alhaji Murtala Yakubu (Muri Ajaka).

Addressing journalists on Thursday, Makama said he is currently receiving training at the Department of State Service, (DSS) in Lokoja, the state capital, to be better equipped in discharging the mandate given to him to stop illegal smuggling of fire arms into the State.

He explained that, since his appointment as Director General, Special Task force on Illegal Smuggling of Fire Arms and Other Related Crimes, he has received several threat calls and messages from criminal and other conspirators within and outside the State.

Makama warned those behind importation of fire arms into Kogi State should desist or face the consequences as if caught will be brought to book no matter how highly connected in the Country.

“The rumors of my arrest does not come to me as a surprise. The DSS has a supervisory role both at the national and the state levels of the federation on illegal smuggling of fire arms. The DSS has a lot of role in training and equipping me with the knowledge to be able to carry out this responsibility without bias”, he said.
