Kogi LG Treasurer Turbaned As Matawale Of Igu (Koton-Karfe) Kingdom, Promises To Do More For The People

The Treasurer, Kogi Local Government Area, Alhaji Abdullahi Yusuf Ohikura has been turbaned as the Matawale of Igu (Koton-Karfe) Kingdom.

The Ohimege-Igu of Koton-Karfe, Alhaji Abdulrazak Sanni Isah-Koto, turbaned the Treasurer while honouring worthy Sons/Daughters of the Kingdom and others who have in one way or another rendered selfless service to the people of the Area and Kogi State at large.

The turbaning ceremony which was conducted on Friday, 25th December, 2020 saw large crowd followed the new Matawale to his residence where other jubilant members of the Community had already gathered to welcome him.

The people rolled out drums, dressed in different attires and showcased different dance steps in celebration of the new Matawale.

In an interview with Newsmen at his residence in Koton-Karfe, the New Matawale of Igu (Koton-Karfe) Kingdom, Alhaji Abdullahi Yusuf Ohikura, said “I want to thank God almighty and equally thank His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Abdulrazak Sanni Isah-Koto, the Ohimege-Igu of Koton-Karfe for finding me worthy of this title. I can’t say I am special, it’s just the will of Allah. Honestly I am highly humbled by this honour done to me”

Alhaji Yusuf Ohikura noted that with the honour done him, he will l assure His Royal Majesty that I am taking this title as a challenge to do more for the people of our dear Community. The people should expect socio-economic growth, improved living conditions and of course, security of lives and property even though we are not security agents but this title conferred on me has brought us to a conner where we make security a priority in our dear Community”.

He appreciated the people of the Area for their show of love and commended all who travelled from both far and near to celebrate with him on the occasion and prayed God to grant them journey mercy to their respective destinations.

The Treasurer, Lokoja Local Government Area, Ibrahim Adoga, described the Matawale of Igu (Koton-Karfe) Kingdom, Alhaji Abdullahi Yusuf Ohikura, as a man of honour and expressed optimism that he will deliver the required result.

“His turbaning is not a surprise to me because he has been in the traditional corridor and his selfless services has been speaking. Am aware he has been honored with other traditional titles before now and for His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Abdulrazak Sanni Isah-Koto to turban him again is a thing of joy to me that’s why we came all the way from Lokoja to felicitate with him”.

Alhaji Ibrahim Adoga advised the New Matawale to double his efforts at impacting the lives of others positively, noting that it pays to be good.

“Ohikura is a young man and he has started very well. No doubt, if you begin to rise early in life many will envy but with prayers, humility and more commitment, you will surmount every mountain. My advice to him is be patient as you deal with people, remain focused and whatever good thing God lays in your heart to do for your people, do it and I pray that you will continue to rise from strength to strength”
