Kogi Police Command Foils Kidnapping Attempt Along Okene/Okpella Road

On 22nd December, 2020, Kogi State Police Command said it has foiled an attempted kidnapping along Okene-Okpella road and recovered one AK47 rifle.

A statement signed by William Ovye Aya, (DSP, the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), said based on information received from one good Nigerian who sighted some armed hoodlums in the bush,suspected to criminals, the police patrol team attached to Okene Area command immediately swung into action

As the criminals approached the highway to carry out their heinous crimes, the Police patrol team waylaid them.

“On sighting the Police, the hoodlums opened fire and the Police engaged them in a gun duel and when the hoodlums were overpowered by the Police, they fled and abandoned one AK47 rifle with four rounds of ammunition. The rifle was recovered.” the Police spokesman stated

While assuring members of the public of adequate security measures put in place to ensure crimes free Yuletide, DSP Aya quoted the Commissioner of Police Kogi state command, CP Ede Ayuba Ekpeji as calling on the good people of the State to cooperate with the Police and other security agencies by volunteering timely and credible information on the activities of criminal elements throughout the festive season.

According to the PPRO, the Commissioner of Police wishes all the people of the state a peaceful and happy Christmas celebration and a prosperous new year in advance.
