Kogi State CoS Receives State Cultural Ambassador, Promises Govt. Support To The Upcoming Children Carnival In The State

Kogi State Government has assured of its continuous support to activities that will promote the culture of the people of the State.

Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pharmacist Abdulkareem Asuku, gave the assurance when he received the State Cultural Ambassador, Miss Kemi Olawunmi in his Office in Lokoja.

Pharmacist Asuku said Governor Bello, since his assumption of Office has accorded attention to the culture of the people of the State in all ramifications.

“On behalf of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, I want to assure you that you have our support at ensuring the success of the Children Carnival you are organizing come 24th March 2021 in the Confluence State. His Excellency believes that one of the ways we can display the existing unity in the State is to build our rich cultural heritage, showcase it and prove to the world that indeed, there’s beauty in our diversity”

“Within five years in Office, His Excellency has been able to lift the ban on some cultural festivals in the State, gave facelift to the State Culture and Tourism Sector among others so that the younger generation can know and appreciate their culture”

He pointed out that the State Government will continue to do its best at supporting and encouraging persons and organizations that are out to promote cultures the people of the State are known for.

He commended the State Cultural Ambassador, Miss Kemi Olawunmi for her commitment at promoting the culture of the State and enjoined her to sustain her efforts, stressing that the reward of hard work is more works.

The Chief of Staff used the occasion to call on the people of the Western Senatorial District of the State to put up cultural activities to showcase the rich culture of the people of the Area.

Earlier, the State Cultural Ambassador, Miss Kemi Olawunmi, said she was in the Chief of Staff’s Office to intimate the State Government on the second edition of her cultural Project, ‘Kogi State Children Carnival’ and to solicit for the support of the State Government for the success of the event.

Miss Kemi said the initiative will help inculcate the culture of the people in the heart of the young ones and as well showcase the rich culture of the State to the outer world.

“I want to first appreciate the State Government under the Leadership of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for the audience given us and for creating enabling environment for cultural activities to thrive in the State and for supporting the sector at all times. To the young and visionary Chief of Staff, Pharmacist Abdulkareem Muhammed Jamiu Asuku, I want to say a big thank to you for always giving us listening ears. We believe in what the State Government can do and now that you have assured of State Government’s commitment towards ensuring the success of the coming event, we know it will surely be a huge success”

She continued “I also want to appreciate the State Council of Chiefs for finding me worthy to serve as the State Cultural Ambassador, its a rare privilege and I am grateful for it. I will continue to do my best to ensure I deliver the needed results”

Speaking about the coming Children Cultural Carnival slated for 24th March, 2021, the Cultural Ambassador said the event will also help correct the negative effect of foreign culture that has fast eaten into the fabrics of the African culture.

“Virtually every aspect of our lives deals with culture and there’s need for us to sustain our culture for generations yet unborn and as well showcase what we are made of so that foreign culture will not knock off the African culture”

“Project Culture entails instilling culture in the younger ones to enable them know the ethics the African man is known for and make them better persons in the society. When we have well cultured children, they will in turn contribute positively to the society so, this project will go a long way at ensuring an ideal society”

The State Commissioner of Culture and Tourism, Comrade Salifu Isah Idachaba, the Ohiegba of Mozum and Provost, Kogi State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Bukar Khalid, the State Little Miss Culture and Little Master Culture, alongside their parents were present at the visit.

Highlight of the visit was the decoration of the Chief of Staff with Local beads by the State Cultural Ambassador.
