Kogi State Is Still COVID-19 Free” . —- Commissioner of Health

Kogi State government has denied rumours making the rounds that the dreaded Coronavirus has infiltrated the state, disclosing that it has developed full testing capacity and hundreds of tests conducted so far with all the results returned negative.

A press statement signed by the state Commissioner of Health Dr Saka Haruna Audu made available to newsmen on Wednesday assured the people that till this very moment the state is Covid-19 free.

“We have developed full testing capacity and have conducted hundreds of tests so far which have returned negative,” Dr Audu insisted

He warned that ” the state government will not be a party to any fictitious Covid-19 claims which is why we do not recognise any Covid-19 test conducted by any Kogite outside the boundaries of the State except those initiated by us. Any attempt to force us to announce a case of Covid-19 will be vehemently rejected.”

The government therefore enjoined the people to take all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic into the State and give no listening ears to rumour peddlers and mischief makers.

“We are more than prepared to secure the life of our people and have no interest in playing politics with their Health concerns”, he said

Rumours are rife and making the rounds that the dreaded Covid 19 pandemic has finally arrived Lokoja, sending jitters into the people.

The Commissioner of Health, therefore warned mischief makers and rumour carriers to desist or face the full wrath of the law.
