Nasarawa APC primaries: Court reserves judgement in Okpoku’s case.

Federal High Court sitting in Lafia, the Nasarawa State Capital has on Thursday, reserved judgement in a case filed by Hon Adamu Kaika, APC Aspirant for Udege/Loko state constituency challenging the nomination of Hon Mohammed Okpoku, member representing Udege/ Loko constituency at the State House of Assembly as APC candidate of the in the forthcomin general election.

Prof. Mubarak Adelakun, Counsel to Hon Okpoku while briefing newsmen today after the case in Lafia said that the court reserved judgment after both parties adopted their written addresses.

” In which a judgement date will be communicated to both parties.

According to him, the action began with originating summon, that is you file/ do a legal battle by filing affidavits in such a way that they will be considered from the documents which will serve as evidence.

” As there is no way to call somebody to come and testify before the court.

” What transpired today is adoption of written addresses by both parties.

” The first defendant is the INEC, the Second defendant is the APC and the third defendant is Hon Okpoku in which we are representing.

” Today, there was a lot of affidavits and counter affidavits and we have adopted all the arguments .

” And the court reserved judgement till a date to be communicated to us,” he said.

On his part, Barr. Cheku Alkali, representing the second defendant, which is the All Progressives Congress ( APC) also confirmed that the case was reserved for judgement.

He expressed hope that the case will be in favour of Hon Okpoku.

Hon Mohammed Okpoku, member representing Udege/ Loko constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly while briefing newsmen urged his supporters to be patient, expressing hope that the case will be in his favour.

” I was in the court today to hear the case and by God’s grace, I am winning the case.

” This is originating summon where fact speak for itself as there was affidavits and counter affidavits,” he said.

The lawmaker used the medium to re- assure his constituents of purposeful leadership, if re- elected come 2023.
