The Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has passed into second reading a Bill for a Law to Establish the Nasarawa State Information Technology Development Agency and Other Related Matters.

Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Speaker of the House announced the passage of the bill into second reading during the House proceedings in Lafia today.

The Speaker said that the agency, if established was to plan and coordinate all information technology practices for development to thrive in the state.

He said that the bill, if passed into law would also boost the economy of the state.

Balarabe Abdullahi added that importance of Information Technology Communication ( ICT) to human and societal development could not be over-emphsized, hence the need of the House determination to pass the bill into law.

” This bill has to do with Information Technology Development Agency that is framework for the regularization of technology practices as we are in digital world.

” This bill if passed into law will curtail crime through ICT and will boost the economy of the state.

” I commits this bill to the House committee on Information to work on it and report back to the House in the next 8 weeks,” he said.

The speaker has commended Gov. Abdullah Sule for initiating the bill.

Earlier, Hon Tanko Tunga, the Majority Leader of the House gave the substance of the bill and moved a motion for the bill to scale second reading.

The Majority Leader called on his colleagues to support the bill to scale second reading for the development of Information Technology in the state.

Hon Daniel Ogazi, the Deputy Majority Leader of the House seconded the motion.

Also Contributing, Hon Danladi Jatau Hon Abdulaziz SK Danladi have commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for initiating the bill.

They have described Gov. Sule as global and international man with focused.

They have said that the bill if passed into law would not only boost Information Technology but would also help in detecting crime and boost the economy of the state.

The House unanimously passed the bill into second reading

In another development, the Speaker announced that the House has commenced Ramadan recess to resume on 9th May, 2022.

Hon Umar Tanko Tunga, the Majority Leader of the House moved a motion for the House to proceed on recess which was seconded by Hon Daniel Ogazi.
