Nasarawa Assembly pledges support to SSG Office to ensure its effective functioning

It is encouraging to see lawmakers pledging their support to office of the Secretary to State Government (SSG) in order to ensure its effective functioning.

This support is crucial for the SSG office to effectively carry out their duties and responsibilities. With the backing of lawmakers, the SSG can have a stronger mandate to implement policies, make informed decisions, and address the needs of the people.

This collaboration between the legislative and executive branches is essential for the smooth governance of a state, country and the overall well-being of its citizens.

Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has pledged to continue to support the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to deliver on its responsibilities as the engine room of the government.

The House has also tasked the office of the SSG to braze up and improve on its budget performance which it said was seriously below expectation.

Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts, Hon Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki stated this when the office of the SSG appeared for its 2023 budget assessment today in Lafia.

Hon Akwashiki ( SDP- Lafia Central) who emphasized the significant of partnership and support between arms of government said the state assembly will give its maximum support to the executive arm to succeed for the benefit of the entire people of the state.

The committee chairman, however said that despite the synergy and understanding between the arms of government, checks and balances as well as other constitutional responsibilities cannot be compromised, hence the need for call on SSG office to sit up and improve on its budget performance.

The committee also lamented on lack of proper documentation of budget by the SSG office, urging the management to ensure that the put their House in order before coming for budget assessment.

While re-iterating the House commitment in improving on the general well-being of the people of the State, Hon. Akwashiki commended the effort of Gov. Abdullahi Sule administration’s in improving the well-being of the people of the State.

Earlier, Mr Mohammed Idde, the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs, office of the SSG, who stood in for the SSG led other two Permanent Secretaries and management for the exercise and appreciated the Committee for its support so far and pledged for more understanding to enable them succeed.
