National Councillors Forum Set Up 7 Man Convention Committee.

The National Councillors Forum (NCF) has setup a seven man committee for its convention to elect new officials that will pilot affairs of the forum.

Acting national president of NCF, Hon Sani Usman Kinafa, disclosed this while addressing newsmen at the end of an intensive meeting of the forum meeting, which had the national and states excos in attendance on Thursday, in Abuja.

He said the seven man convention committee has Hon Adesokan Olarenwaju (South west) as the chairman, while Hon Sayuti Ibrahim, (North central zone) as secretary of the committee.

He said the setting up of the convention committee was arrived at a unanimous decision among the excos of the forum after intensive meeting, saying the current executive members of the forum three years tenure has elapsed since April, 2021.

“Even though, there are some people who don’t want election to hold to usher in another new executives, which the forum decided to come together from the six geo political zone to meet in Abuja, where we unanimously resolved to put in place a seven man committee that will preside over the convention,” he said.

He added the need to put in place the committee became imperative, which he said will enhance peace and unity among both members and executives of the forum.

“And we believe that put in place the convention committee will also facilitate challenges and other task ahead of the councillors across the 774 local government in the country,” he added.

The acting NCF president, who said the forums focus was to ensure unity among its members, noted that there are challenges especially on tenure of executives which he said the forum intend to put forward before the national assembly.

Also speaking, the acting national secretary of the NCF, Hon Yusuf Babawapa, (house leader) of Kano municipal local government area of Kano state, described the forum’s decision to set-up committee on convention as good step in the right direction.

He said the committee will among other things come up with a time table for the conduct of election of new officials of the forum between November and December, 2021, that will pilot affairs of the forum for three years.

“And we expect that election will also usher in competent people that will pilot affairs of the forum and bring it to a greater height, ” he said.
