With ongoing concerted efforts by President Muhammed Buhari administration to nip in the bud poverty, the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has distributed engagement letters and tablets to 56 trained Independent Monitors of the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP).
The 56 trained independent Monitors were presented with engagement letters and tablets at the Conference Hall of Ministry for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Lafia on Thursday by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq to carry out the assignment.
The Minister was ably represented at the occasion by her Technical Advisor Mal Abdullahi Usman and the team leader, Deputy Director Planning and Research of the ministry, Hajiya Safiya Sani.
On the occasion, the Nasarawa State Governor, Engr Abdullahi A Sule was also represented by his SSA on Humanitarian Services and Focal Person, National Social Investment Programmes, Hon Imran Usman Jibrin.
During the one year engagement, the Independent Monitors will earn a monthly stipend of N30,000 each based on their expected return on variables.
The Independent Monitors will follow up on government’s Social Investment Programmes including N-POWER, National Home Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP), Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) and the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP).
Present at the occasion also were the Nasarawa State Coordinator National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr Priscilla, State Coordinator, State Operating Coordinating Unit (SOCU), Mal Adamu, Head of Unit , State Cash Transfer Unit, Madam Rhoda, the Program manager School Feeding Programme Mr Amos Magaji and the Desk Officers of GEEP and N Power among others.
