The Nasarawa State government under the leadership of Governor Abdullahi A. Sule has been commended for his foresight towards eradicating poverty through social investment program in the State.

On Friday, the Nasarawa State Social Investment Programme (NSSIP) office disclosed it has ended the third payment cycle of N5,000 monthly stipend known as “Kudin A A Sule” to the targeted beneficiaries across the State.

The scheme was under Conditional Cash Transfer Programme (NASCCTP) in the state.

Hon Imran Usman Jibrin, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi A. Sule on Humanitarian Services and Focal Person Social Investment Programme explained that the third payment cycle which commenced on Tuesday, 29 June, 2021 in the western part of the state ended Friday, 9th July in the northern part of the state, such are Wamba and Nasarawa Eggon in particular with beneficiaries getting N5,000 across the state.

According to the Governor aide and focal person, those beneficiaries who couldn’t get their stipend during the first and second disbursement got 15, 000 naira during the third payment exercise.

Hon Imran described the exercise as most peacefully, orderly and coordinated. He commended the staff and beneficiaries for their orderliness, urging them to sustain the tempo.

He praised the Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule for his initiative geared towards eradicating poverty in the state.

However, the focal person enjoined beneficiaries to make judiciously used of the stipend to improve their livelihood.

Reacting to the development, some beneficiaries who spoke to Global Times Nigeria says the monthly stipends has improved hugely in changing their lives as some of the Nasarawa State Conditional Cash Transfer Programme have also used the stipends to start and run personal businesses.

“One of the beneficiaries in Obi LGA during the third payment exercise said she opened a bakery (cake) business through monthly contribution of 3000 naira with 10 of her friends and she asked them to allow her to take the first deposit of N30,000, which they agreed.”

Recalled, Nasarawa State Conditional Cash Transfer Programme was initiated by Governor Abdullahi A. Sule with the aim of improving the living conditions of the poor and the vulnerable people in the state. Beneficiaries which cut across the Staye are paid N5,000 monthly.
