Governor Godwin Obaseki seems to be living in an alternative reality. Yesterday being the 2nd of December, a list of appointments into the offices of Senior Assistants and Senior Special Assistants was released by the office of the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Osarodion Ogie, claiming albeit illegally, that the list of appointees was occasioned as a result of harmonization by Edo State PDP whereas there was never such an exercise in Edo State PDP.
The issue of harmonization couldn’t have been because the purported harmonization is sub judice. Suit no. FHC/ABJ/CS/1618/2020 refers.
2. No leader was mandated to vitiate and disrespect the decision reached at the 2021 National Convention.
Consequently, the claimed harmonization is null and void.
3. That the alleged harmonization is not only irregular but an aberration of the provisions of the PDP CONSTITUTION 2017 as amended.
To make matters worst, the list of SSAs and SAs are peopled majorly by former APC members, who are few, that joined PDP with the governor without consideration for the more populated PDP members who they met in the party. This is not far from an attempt that the governor has always courted to take over the party from the Legacy PDP members but has been meeting stiff opposition as no law gives him the raw opportunity to carry his clandestine machination.
This week, it was alleged that the governor who has been finding it difficult to take over the party after meeting stiff opposition will go all lengths to make sure Edo State PDP goes the Zamfara State way where there were two factions during the last election and the courts eventually nullified both elections and handed over the victory to PDP that came second.
The Edo State Legacy PDP members have resolved to do everything humanly possible to legally stop the governor and his ilks from destroying the party that gave him succor to APC owing to his anti-party activities.
