Ona of Abaji tasks FCT youth network on peaceful, credible election

The Ona of Abaji and chairman of the council of traditonal rulers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) His Royal Majesty (HRM) Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, has called for a peaceful, free fair and credible during the FCT youth network elections slated for Saturday, July, 30th 2022 in Abuja.

Alhaji Yunusa, made the call when he recieved the executive director of the Abuja Original Inhabitants Youth Empowerment (AOIYE) Commandant Isaac David, and members of the electoral committee of the FCT youth network alongside aspirants vying for youth leaders at his palace on Friday.

He advised members of the electoral committee of the FCT youth network to create a level playing for all the aspirants, even as he called on whoever emerged winner during the election to carry those that lost out along.

“The major task before members of the electoral committee of the FCT youth network who are to oversee the upcoming Saturday election is for them to ensure they create a level playing for all the aspirants and there should also be a peaceful, free, fair and credible election,” he said.

Ealier, the executive director of AIOIYEO Commandant Isaac David, said he led members of the electoral committee of the FCT youth network and aspirants vying for youth leaders across the six area councils to come and seek for blessings of the traditional ruler.

He noted that as a youth coming up, there was the need to come together to speak with one voice, which he was the bases of engaging the youth through FCT youth network in the interest and benefit of entire people of the territory.

On his part, the chairman of Abaji area council, Abubakar Umar Abdullahi, said the upcoming FCT youth network election should not be seen as a ‘do or die’ affairs since it is for the benefit of the FCT youth.

He called on the electoral umpire to ensure a free level playing ground for all the aspirants, while urging those that may emerge at the end of the election to embrace his or her opponent.

Our correspondent report that all the aspirants vying for various positions later signed a peace pact in the present of the Ona of Abaji, Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa and various security agents at the palace.
