Petrol Pump Price: DPR Moves Against Hoarders, Marketers In Kogi.

Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has moved against hoarders and adjustment of pump price of petrol in Kogi state, as major marketers and dealers were apprehended and filling stations sealed.

Controller of DPR in Kogi state, Engineer Paul Yaro Jezhi in an interview with Daily Times on Friday disclosed that some major marketers and dealers have created artificial scarcity after rumours of increase in petrol pump price, which led to panic buying of the product.

Engineer Jezhi who urged consumers of petrol to ignore the rumour assured the price still remain N 162 and any other price is illegal and exploitative.

The Controller, who lamented the negative toll the activities of unpatriotic marketers has impacted on the lives of the people, disclosed that the perpetrators will be sanctioned in a accordance with the law.

” DPR is not aware of the increase in petrol pump price as government has not made any announcement to that effect. Any marketer or organisation that flouts the stipulated pump price of petrol will be sanctioned and fined, ” the Controller said.

Engineer Jezhi also assured that the Department will continue to monitor and inspect all filling stations to ensure compliance of the regulation to relieve the customers from the hardship caused by unpatriotic marketers and their sponsors whose aim is to incite the people against the authorities.

He however commended those patriotic marketers who maintain the approved pump price, assuring them of protection from the sabotage by their rivals in the business.

The Controller therefore appealed to the general public to ignore the rumour of increase in the price of petrol and continue to do their businesses and continue their tolerance pending the soon to be improved international oil economy.
