Police promotes 321 officers in Kogi command, CP warns against violation of human rights.

The Nigeria Police Service Commission (PSC) has promoted 321 officers from the Kogi state Command to the ranks of Assistant Superitendant of Police (ASP1 and 11).

Kogi state Commissioner of Police, CP Onuoha Bethrand, has cautioned officers and men of the Command against violating the fundamental human rights of the citizens.

CP Bethrand gave the advise last week when he decorated168 Inspectors who were promoted to their new rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police, (ASP 11), while 153 Assistant Superintendent of Police were equally decorated to their substantive rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP I).

It was jubilation galore at the Kogi state Police Command headquarters, Lokoja, as the Officers were decorated with their new ranks, witnessed by their superior officers, colleagues, spouses, friends and well-wishers.

A press release signed by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), SP William Aya, said the decoration was sequel to the promotions recently released by the Police Service Commission for the total number of 14,052 Inspectors to the rank of ASP II and 9,016 ASP II confirmed to substantive rank of ASP I.

According to the release,the promotions were done in conjunction with the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun

The PPRO further clarifies that the Inspectors who benefited from the promotion, attended the last Departmental Selection Board promotion interview, while the ASPs were those who passed the confirmation Examination.

In his remarks after performing the ceremony,the Commissioner of Police Bethrand, while appreciating the IGP and the Chairman Police Service Commission for the promotion, congratulated the Officers for their well deserved promotion.

While he charged them to double their efforts noting that elevation is a call for greater commitment to the service of the Nation, urged them to respect the fundamental human rights of citizens which is the Standard Operational Procedure for the Police.

He warned the promoted Officers to remain disciplined as it is the bedrock of the Job.

Chief Judge of Kogi State, Hon. Justice JJ Majebi appreciates the Nigeria Police Force particularly the Officers attached to Judges Protection Unit for their commitment to duties and entire Officers and men of the Command for their efforts in ensuring the safety of lives and property in the State.

Also, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Independence National Electoral Commission, INEC Dr Gabriel Hale Longpet congratulated the newly promoted Officers and thanked the Command for the robust working relationship with INEC.

He stated that Kogi State has enjoyed the performance of the security agencies,especially during the last General Election, and requested for more cooperation during the forthcoming November 11, 2023 Governorship election in the State.

Speaking on behalf of the promoted Officers, ASP Momoh Aminu, appreciates the Inspector General of Police, Ag. IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Police Service Commission as well as the Commissioner of Police Kogi State Police Command for the promotions, promising to reciprocate by being more dedicated and committed to their duties.
