Sallah: FOMWAN Distributes Clothes, Food Stuffs To 600 Orphans, Widows In Kwali.

Ahead of the Eid -El- Kabir sallah celebration, the Kwali Area Council chapter of the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) has distributed clothes to 600 orphans and food stuffs to 200 widows in the area.

Speaking during the distribution at Kwali town hall on Saturday, the Amirah of FOMWAN in Kwali, Aishatu Yamta Bukar, said the distribution of both foods and clothes started 9 years ago, which she said cut across the ten wards of the council to the orphans and the less privileged ones in the council.

She said the distribution of the food stuffs and clothes was meant for the orphans and the windows to celebrate the forthcoming Eid -Eidfitr sallah celebration, even as she said there are some beneficiaries that are coming from displaced persons camp from the north that are residing in the area.

She recalled how the CoviD-19 pandemic has effected the excercise both financially and otherwise, saying the association has to go extra mile to source for food and clothes for the orphans and widows.

“And I can say Alhamdulilah as you can see before us today, all these materials that will be given out were donations from different individuals, we taught we could not make it to this level as a result of the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the country’s economy. But Alhamdulilah we made it, may Allah reward our donors,” she said.

The Amirah of FOMWAN, however, disclosed that association will soon have a foundation basically for orphans and widows, which she said will be named as Islamic Virtue for Orphans And Widows Foundation with scholarship packages.

She commended the Babakaffi Orphans Foundation, which she said was an NGO that has existed for five years in the area, saying the foundation had supported orphans under FOMWAN interms of school fees, unforms, and monthly stipend.

“From last year to date they have spent 576,000 only for monthly stipend on 11 orphans and payment of their termly school fees with both Islamiyyah and other materials necessary for their education,” she said.

Bukar, commended the Etsu of Kwali, Alhaji Shaban Audu Nizazo (III) chairman of Kwali Area council, Hon Danladi Chiya, Hon Minister of Women Affairs, Paullen Tallen, wife of the former Chairman of the council, Mrs Saratu Joseph Shazin and among other top personalities for their immense contribution towards assisting the orphans and widows in the area.

Also speaking, the Etsu of Kwali, Alhaji Shaban Audu Nizazo (III) commended the FOMWAN for their efforts towards the plights of the less privileged ones especially the orpagns and widows in the area.

He called on philanthropists and wealthy individuals as well as coporate organizations to support the association towards improving the living the standard of the orphans and widows across the council.

The Chairman of the council, Hon Danladi Chiya, represented by the vice chairman, Alhaji Zubairu Jibirin Yewuti, also lauded FOMWAN for its efforts towards the plights of the orphans and widows.

He expressed his administration determination in supporting the orphans and widows through engaging them on skills acquisition programme so that they become self reliance.

Global Times Nigeria, report that highlight of the event was holding of Ramadan lecture by a former chairman of the council, Alhaji Saidu A. Ashara.
