SIEC Finally Constituted, As Kogi Set To Conduct Local. Govt Elections___ ——Shiru heads KOSIEC.

As part of preparation for the local government elections, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has constituted the State Independent Electoral Commission. (SIEC).

A press release from the government house Lokoja, on Wednesday signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onogwu Muhammed, said, the names of the the Chairman and members of the Commission has been forwarded to the State House of Assembly for screening and clearance.

The statement said Hon. Lawal Shiru, Lokoja/Koto Federal Constituency, as Chairman, while Ozovehe John Enesi is the Secretary, from Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency

Other members include, Adaji Ainoko, Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency, Musa Adama (Babakeke), Idah Federal Constituency, Hon. Funsho Olorunfemi, Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency.

Also to serve as members are Chogudo Yakubu Musa, Okene/Ogori Magongo Federal Constituency, Hon. Labaran Yahaya Oyigebe, Ankpa Federal Constituency and Abdulkarim Jamiu,, Ajaokuta Federal Constituency

The Governor’s recommendation according to the release is based on section 197, sub-section 1(b) of the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

If confirmed by the state Assembly the SIEC will be saddled with the responsibility of conducting free, fair and credible Local Government Chairmen and Councils elections in the state.
