Sports: Toto LG Boss, Nasarawa Health Commissioner, Barr. Tanko Osuku, others Grace Final of Maikaya Football Competition in Toto.
Chairman, Toto local government Council of Nasarawa State, Hon. Aliyu Abdullahi Tashas has expressed satisfaction with the level of activities designed by the Maikaya Development Foundation which is geared towards promoting peace and unity through sports.
Hon. Tashas also commended the philanthropist gesture of the Grand Patron of the Foundation through dedication and hard work with a mission to bring glory to the area.
The Council Chairman barred his mind during the final of the second edition of the Maikaya Development Foundation Football Competition held at the Toto West Secondary School sports field on Saturday.
The competition was organized by the Foundation to promote peaceful coexistence among the youths of Toto Local Government.
The council boss who eulogized the Grand Patron of the Maikaya Development Foundation, Alhaji Musa Muhammed Maikaya, said he deserves commendation for his initiative ranging from philanthropy, peace, unity, and development of his community among other things.
He said “what I have seen today is quite impressive, we are gaining momentum as the council under my leadership is looking forward to a similar event of this great magnitude.
” What gladdens my heart is the young players drawn from the 12 electoral wards of Toto who are now setting personal best records. You can see the excitement and the spirit of competitiveness.”
Tashas also appreciated the Maikaya Foundation’s Commitment over the years in the grooming of great sportsmen and women who have won prizes for their various communities.
On his part, Pharmacist Ahmed Baba Yahaya, a Commissioner for Health in Nasarawa State, thanked Alhaji Musa Muhammed Maikaya for their unalloyed support towards sports development among the youths in the area.
He expressed hope that government will do its best to support grassroots sports development.
Also speaking, Executive Chairman, Kogi State Civil Service Commission, Barr. Muhammed Tanko Musa Osuku commended the Grand patron of Maikaya Development Foundation for its contributions towards the event and urged the government to be more proactive in grooming the youths who are sports inclined so that the Toto Local Government and Nasarawa State could continue to hold its own sports festivals.
Barr. Tanko who is also a former administrator of Kogi Local Government Council paid glowing tributes to Maikaya for being instrumental to sports development in the area.
The highly elated legal luminary called on other well-to-do Nigerians to support the Maikaya Foundation in their quest for sporting excellence.
Tanko, a one-time Senior Special Assistant Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Kogi State on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, also expressed optimism that Nigeria’s youths will make the nation proud if given the opportunity.
He also commended the officials saddled with the responsibility of the sports activities in the area for their fair and just judgment before, during, and after the processes and for always setting the pace.
The Grand Patron, Maikaya Development Foundation, Alhaji Musa Muhammed Maikaya said in his address that the event was put together to complement the efforts of the government at all levels to minimize crimes, encourage unity, peaceful coexistence, and improve the well-being of the youths in the area.
However, the former Governorship aspirant said there are numerous programs the foundation will undertake in the year ahead, he reiterated his commitment to continue to give back to society.
Maikaya who is the Ciroma Toto commended every stakeholder, guest, and youths for their unflinching support and loyalty which he said contributed hugely to the success of the event.
