Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) kicks against substandard goods in Kogi.

Kogi State Coordinator of Standards Organisation of Nigeria, (SON), Mr Olowu Daudu has called for strict adherence to the standard expected in the production of goods and services despite the ravaging flood that the people are currently battling with.

Mr Daudu gave the charge while speaking with newsmen in Lokoja, Kogi State capital.

He said standard of goods cannot be compromised in view of it’s significance towards national economy and regional integration.

The Coordinator emphasised that consumers must have value for the goods purchased and appealed to those in manufacturing sector to maintain quality assurance in their production.

According to him, the recent flood has affected environmental factors resulting in difficulty of movement, adding that standard must be maintained in order not to further endanger the lives of the people.

He explained that his office had spearheaded a lot of activities to checkmate the inflow of substandard goods in the state noting that the awareness campaign targeted towards eateries in Kogi State was successful.

The Coordinator also warned motorists to desist from buying substandard tyres which according to him, do not guarantee the safety of passengers and goods conveyed across the country.
