Stop The Sale, NDLEA, Gombe Warn Illicit Drugs Dealers

……. NDLEA and Gombe State Government has warned Illicit Drugs Dealers in the state to stop the sale.

Reports has said that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA) and Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya have warned patent medicines dealers in the state against the sale of banned drugs, saying anyone caught will be made to face the law.

Gombe NDLEA State Acting Commander Rosana Nnodim, who made this known Engr. Sale Mammastatewide sensitisation programme for Nigerian Association of Patent and Proprietary Medicines Dealers, (NAPPMED) in Gombe, said the agency could no longer condone the conduct of some NAPPMED members which she said had led to the destruction of lives of youths and insecurity in the country.

“If you look at it very closely, the root of all the insecurity and youth restiveness in the country today can be traced to the use of illicit drugs which are made available by some of your members.

She explained that the war against the sale of illicit drugs cannot be won except all hands are on deck by those concerned including all NAPPMED members and that is the reason why the NDLEA has embarked on the sensitisation programme which will take it around the state.

Governor Yahaya, who was represented by the Special Adviser on Drugs and Narcotics Birba Samu Godfrey said his government was passionate about the abuse of drugs among the youths and that informed the setting up of the office of Special Adviser on Drugs and Narcotics.

“We can no longer fold our arms and watch the lives of our youths who are the leaders of tomorrow being destroyed by what they consume. We as a government will continue to do everything possible to make sure that this menace is brought to a halt in our state.”
