As part of concerted effort of the present administration to improve on the Internally generated revenue and for the betterment of the council, the executive Chairman of Toto Local Government, Hon. Aliyu Abdullahi Tashas, Monday, constituted a 11 man taskforce on revenue generation committee with the mandate to block all loopholes and ensure monies due for the local government are effective and efficiently collected and remitted into government coffers.
A statement signed by Senior Special Assistant, SSA, on Media And publicity, Yahaya Idris said the council boss further explained that for government to embark on meaningful projects and impact positively on the life of the citizenry, there is need to look inwards and ensure people are made to perform one of their obligatory responsibility which is paying the recommended taxes to government.
He assured members of the committee that his administration will make available all logistics support needed to enable them function effectively and achieve the desired target in revenue collections for the local government.
The council chairman enjoined management and staff of the council as well as the general public to cooperate fully with the new tax officers.
The new revenue officers will report directly to the council chairman. He stated.
On his part, the committee Chairman, Mallam Adamu Danladi Maikeke on behalf of other members of the committee thanked the Executive Chairman for the confidence reposed on them, assured of their commitment to work assiduously inline with the task before them.
He appealed to the Chairman to alert security agents and council management to enable them work effectively and efficiently.
The Committee has the following persons, Adamu Danladi Maikeke, Clerk of the Council’s legislature as Chairman, Yunusa Umar (Finance department), Revenue Cashier, Abubakar Usman Fodio ( personnel department), Mohammad Umar Gomina ( Agric department), Salihu Adamu ( Social Services department), Mallam Isah (works department), Abdulrahman Usman ( PHC), Hon. Abdulazeez Ahmad ( Councilor) representing Toto ward, Zubairu Umar ( Board of Internal Revenue), Maimunat Abubakar Gomina ( Class teacher), while Haruna Ibrahim Salihu ( Revenue Officer) serves as Secretary.
The committee is expected to
Identify sources of Revenue in the Local Government Area, check illegal revenue collections, tap all revenues and deposit all revenue collections at the Local Government account.
The occasion had in attendance the Vice chairman, Speaker of the legislative arm, all the councilor from various wards, DPM, Directors and council staff among others.
