“We Must Not Allow Our Cultural Heritage Eroded By Globalization”. – Senator Aduda Urges Natives
Senator Philip Aduda representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has called on natives of the territory that they must consciously and deliberately ensure that their cultural heritage is not eroded by development, civilization, and world globalization.
Senator Aduda, while speaking at the 6th annual cultural festival organized by Karu chiefdom development association in Karu Abuja, on Sunday, said the world has become a global village where modem technology has taken over the world.
“You can see what is happening in China, Malaysia, America Russia, Canada, and around the world where technologies have continued to rule the world,” he said.
He said it was only through display of culture and traditions of every ethnic group across the FCT that the younger generations can bequeath their cultural heritage,” he said.

He, however, called on various chiefdoms within the FCT to bring together all tribes every year to display their culture so that they understand each other’s culture and traditions.
“And I have said it that I am going to maximum support to ensure that the cultural festival to take place,” he said.
Senator Aduda, while commending the organizers of the event, encouraged them to continue to organize such events, saying it was on the basis that he always look forward to coming back home to Karu to join his people to celebrate the culture festival.
“That is why year in, year out, I ensure that I and my family come home to participate in the cultural festival because I am afraid that after our generation, we may not have any cultural celebration which will be unfortunate,” he said.
Aduda, while commending the organizers of the event, assured residents of the FCT that he will continue to provide dividends of democracy to them and quality representation at the national assembly.
Also speaking, the chairman of AMAC, Alhaji Abdullahi Candido, who was the chairman of the occasion, said the FCT natives can only be identified by their culture and traditions, saying they should not allow other Nigerians to come and show them their culture.
“Gone should be those days when we are seated in Karu and celebrate other cultures. Yes, we can celebrate other people’s culture, but ours should be the first to celebrate and demonstrate,” he said.
He stressed the need for the natives to demonstrate through their culture, saying the natives will only be deceiving themselves when they keep pretending and borrowing other Nigerians cultures.
The chairman further appreciated the Esu of Karu, Chief Emmanuel Yepwyi, and members of his traditional council for promoting peace across the council, while urging him to keep it up.
On his part, the Sa’Karuyi of Karu, His Royal Highness (HRH) Emmanuel Kyauta Yepwyi, said a cultural festival is an annual event, which was aimed at showcasing culture and traditions and of ethnic groups and fostering peace and unity among them in the chiefdom.
